NinjaTrader Brokerage is terrible from an "account management" perspective. Tradovate is great, online platform is surprisingly decent, and you can get a CQG connection to any platform that supports it. There's direct (i.e., non-CQG) integration with Jigsaw Daytradr and with TradingView (since I believe 2 weeks ago).

I got my NT8 setup to connect to both Apex Tradovate and Apex Rithmic accounts at the same time, with live data. For Tradovate, it should be simulation account for eval. NinjaTrader. I haven't tried Tradovate, but Ninja Trader is good. Normally $500 margin for daytrading index e-minis, $50 /contract for micros, double right now due to the high volatility. Very customizable and as fuzzyp44 mentioned, lots of people develop features, add-ons, custom indicators, etc.
