Best way to think of it is a M3000 made actually by Benelli. I was able to buy my Franchi Affinity off of Gunbroker for $630 dollars shipped. So it was a little bit more than a Stoeger would set you back. A plus is it takes Benelli M2 drop in parts, my has the Taran Tactical lifter, safety and extended bolt release.

I have a Affinity 3 and an A400(and a Benelli M2). The Affinity 3 is strictly for hunting for me: it’s got a 26” barrel and is nice and light for quick shots, great fit and finish. If you want inertia and are just starting out, the Affinity 3 or the Benelli M2 are the 2 I recommend most. For gas guns, the A400 is the top contender imo. The matte version knocks $100 off of MSRP. Just like the 12 gauge, the trigger of this Affinity 20 breaks right at 4-1/2 pounds, very good for a field autoloader and better than most. The weight of the gun is misrepresented. The Affinity 20 actually weighs 6 lbs. on the nose, unloaded, not the claimed 5.6 lbs.
The Franchi makes more sense, dollar for dollar -- but it doesn't have the characteristic Benelli styling, with a lot of little detailed styling cues. "goes into battery with MUCH more authority". Yet, Benelli brand of Beretta hasn't done a bloody thing to fix it in all these years. It is a shame, for there isn't much to get excited about in 20 gauge auto-land today, and there hasn't been for many years.

The stock is the main difference. The M2 is a great gun, but when you factor in the similarities and price, I would go with the Affinity.

So picking my one and only semi-auto shotgun to do a variety of things from plinking to clays to possibly occasional casual 3 gun. Looking at Benelli M1 buds exclusive and Franchi Affinity 3. Less than $200 price difference. Function wise, they’re fantastic. I shoot a lot of skeet and have probably 15-17,000 rounds through the 12ga in the last 3.5 years, and another 3-4,000 through the 20ga. No issues, and very little cleaning.The M2 holds four rounds to the five for the Silver and both can accept extensions. The Silver should also be a little better with lighter loads (bigger difference in 12 gauge). The Silver has a top locking lug and the M2 has a rotary bolt face. This makes the M2 longer overall with the same barrel lengths.The Affinity has most but not all the bells and whistles of the Montefeltro , otherwise the Affinity would cost as much as the Montefeltro . Both are owned by Beretta , however the Affinity is made in Italy from a factory owned by Benelli . So when it comes to your choice go with what feels right for you as long as it fits you the best .
