Repeatedly stressed that work hours were reasonable (55-65 hrs aside from ICU is what I wrote down) with the main problem being travel to many different sites.

There is a lot of trauma because Yale gets anything in eastern Connecticut, southern RI and occasionally Mass. The attendings are solid and want to teach. Funny though it is actually higher (2.8) for those who failed to match. My experience as a student is that a lot of people have abstracts / posters from summer gigs, but very few have put in the considerable time and effort for a publication, let alone first author.Therefore recent anesthesia graduates typically have a higher salary close to $50k more than pain jobs because they don't need time to grow their practice and therefore overall revenue. There are anesthesia job with and without call.
