9 posts · Joined 2022. #1 · Jun 4, 2022. My 2002 odyssey alternator failed open, drawing all the power. A shop diagnosed it as bad alternator, they wanted $525-$550 to replace it. He said the fuse failed whenever they replaced it & they replaced it twice. I've looked at several diagrams & checked the 120 amp Battery fuse, but it's fine.Then I hear another noise after replacement, turns out it was the alternator bearing going. Honda was nice enough to get it changed out, and partially covered good will. They covered 90% of it, I owed the other 10%. Got everything ready for removal, but after removing the alternator bolts, the alternator is freely pivoting on the lower bolt bushings (which I believe were pushed in when the bolt was originally tightened.)
