The current issue is the the firing pin is not extending far enough out of the bolt. There should be a letter and then one to three digits - these numbers had to repeat several times and cannot be used to date the gun. The same numbering was used on other Stevens 22's, like the Favorite.

The No 65 has a shorter magazine tube with the front hanger hidden in the stock and no loading port, the 66 has a longer tube with the hanger out in front of the stock and a loading port. I bought a visible loader a number of years ago knowing at the time it was in need of repair. I bought it with the intent it would be a winter project someday. The usual parts which fail in this rifle have done so in this case also. The normal loss of the broken pieces over the years also has taken place.
