I Hope R262 subway cars will be in Kawasaki in 2030. The R262 contract was cancelled when it was decided that CBTC would not be expanded in the IRT, so we can get another 10-20 years out of the 62s. If the Lower Montauk branch were to be reactivated, this is one of the few projects that I would personally recommend light rail service be used for. While LIRR would miss out on the use of those tracks, high-level platforms would need to be constructed for the current LIRR rolling stock (only Richmond Hill has that).
