Could not remember if the bolt buffer is in front of the bolt or should it be in the back when locking it in on the sliding arm. Thank you for the help.

They were replace by the XL 300 and XL 900, which are gas operated, for the 1972 model year. There was also a long recoil operated, Ithaca marked, SKB autoloader called the "Lightning".But the M51 seems to have the least "blast sensation" of any gas operated shotgun I own, especially in the 20 gauges. The word "blast sensation" is intended to convey a slightly different idea than recoil sensation. To my senses, the Beretta 390 series has low felt recoil sensation but a high level of blast sensation.
