Dasher direct is great as a way to get your money quickly from DD to your other bank account. I wouldn't recommend it as your main bank account, but technically it is a checking account with a routing number, etc and you could use it to direct deposit from any other job.

It is not as great as it is cracked up to be. Fast Pay is pretty much instantaneous. Dasher direct allegedly transfers at midnight but may take 2-3 hours. In practice it takes 4-8 hours. So if you aren't in a hurry, do Dasher Direct. If you need your money in 15 minutes, stick with fast pay and a $1.99 fee.

It depends on the gas station. At the one I usually go to, the pump does a pre-auth of $1 on my capital one card and lets me pump a full tank. That's come in handy a few times. At that same station my dasher direct card won't work at the pump with $50 on it, and doesn't ask me if it's credit or debit.
