Maxxforce 7 problems.
Joined: Feb 2016. 1 08-30-2019, 11:41 PM. I have a 2014 International Maxxforce 7. Blowing black smoke on acceleration, and fait black smoke on turbo boost up hill. Only heavy when you hit the gas but clears right out after 5 seconds. Other than turbos anyone have any ideas? It smells like oil, dark black. air filter is good and all the obvious.

Hello all, I have a 2013 Maxforce having low boost. I checked the actuator and it works so then. I plugged the Actuator to see if that make any difference. I am having about 7 psi more boost after plugging it and it pulls good on hills too and also as soon as the turbo kicks in I hear screeching sound. Would that be the bearing in the turbo ...There are updates for it. Then a simple test for the ICP sensor is to simply unplug the very front valve cover pass through connector and try to start the engine. If it starts, then the sensor is bad. After that you have to dig into it to see if the pump is bad, or you have a massive leak under the valve cover. Past 40,000 to 60,000 miles you may be on borrowed time. The high pressure pump wears and puts metal particles in the common rail. The particles jam the valves open or partly open in the injectors. Most likely your engine was made in 2012, probably has the older DPF, needs a new DPF and several ECM changes which have been made to enhance the DPF life. The newer DPF is less restrictive. The possibilities are endless. International once had a great rep for service, the Maxxforce series changed that for certain.
