It first happened a few weeks ago, I took it to be checked and they said it was the alternator. I had the alternator and battery replaced. It was fine for a couple weeks and then when I went to start it today it wouldn't start. SOURCE: My 1997 Dodge Avenger's engine won't start. Try cam and/or crank sensor. If crank to cam timing isn't detected properly it'll crank all day but won't start. I had similar problem on my 2.5L V6 Avenger....drove home fine, no engine light, next morning it cranked, but wouldn't start. The crank sensor was faulty.Engine will have no spark, and you will not hear the fuel pump run when the key is turned on, therefore, no fuel pressure. These same symptoms have been noticed if a Fuel Pump Relay goes bad or during a computer failure. The Fuel pump relay should not cause a loss of spark. What to check.2008+ Dodge Avenger 2.4L 4cyl. Remove plastic cover on top of engine, just pull on each corner for it is friction fit. Once removed you will see 4 black spark plug covers with one hex type screw holding each. Remove Hex screw and place aside, pull upward to remove plug boot from plug. To remove the plug, use a 5/8 socket with a 6" extension.

Ok. This is a new TIPM. The dark green wire that comes from the starter runs to the little relay box. Dodge Mechanic: RandallJ. I am sorry , doing my best to help. Can you tell where that click is coming from, e.g. the starter solenoid, the TIPM, etc. First wire I would check is a yellow one with a grey stripe coming out of the TIPM. It goes to the starter solenoid and basically tells it when to energize for a start. It is on the output/downstream side of the starter relay in the TIPM.
